Festival “Yoga as a Lifestyle”

With guest Yoga Acharia from Greece Swami Sivamurti Saraswati and Yoga teachers from Belgrade

March 3-4, Hotel Falkensteiner, Bul. M. Pupina 10k, New Belgrade, Serbia

Yoga provides tools to manage different situations which we face in day-to-day life. This daily management of life through means of yoga becomes the foundation of development of yoga in one’s own life, meaning that life itself becomes a field in which one applies yoga, explores yoga, discovers, manages and knows oneself.

Through daily practices we start to experience Yoga. Only with the right combination of various aspects of Yoga do we find the means to control our body, mind and senses. This enables us to deal with life crises, adjust to changes and deal with challenges that life brings to us developing stability, balance and profound understanding.

In fact, we should make Yoga our life style!

What does yogic lifestyle mean? One may imagine a person who is attending yoga classes, becomes vegetarian, who takes tea instead of coffee and does not smoke. Yoga does not need to appear visible in our dressing, talking or in our environment. Yogic lifestyle pertains entirely to the mental attitudes and behaviours. It is the way we behave, think and act in life.

During the Festival, different techniques and practices will be presented through lectures, classes and workshops.

Yoga is not just the practice of asana, pranayama pratyahara or dharana; it is not scientific discoveries; it is understanding and living one’s life with unity and harmony
Sw Niranjanananda Saraswati

30 YEARS OF SATYANANDA YOGA IN SERBIA

This year, we are celebrating 30 years of Satyananda Yoga in Serbia.

Paramahamsa Satyananda founded the Bihar School of Yoga in 1963 on the banks of the river Gang, at the foot of the Himalayas, in North-East India. His mission was spreading ancient knowledge that would aid the modern man in living life in harmony with nature. The Bihar School of Yoga is recognized by the state of India as one of four schools that thoughtfully spread the ancient Knowledge of Yoga. The methodology that is used to spread the knowledge is adapted as so it can be understood by the 21 century man, while at the same time staying truthful to the traditional values of Yoga.

“Yoga is discipline to improve the quality of life; yoga is philosophy to attain peace. If you want good health, if you want to experience peace and to evolve, then let yoga become part of your way of living.” Swami Satyananda Saraswati

Swami Sivamurti Saraswati, Sannyasin and Yoga Acharya, in 1984, founded the Satyanandashram in Greece on the outskirts of Athens, that she successfully leads through the realization of numerous programs, seminars, and trainings covering varied fields of Yoga.

Swami Sivamurti yearly travels the region of South-East Europe, giving inspiring lectures and seminars and visiting numerous manifestations and gatherings. She first came to Serbia in 1987. Since then, she regularly comes back giving seminars and lectures classes that by now included thousands of attendees, many of which have since embarked on the journey of teaching yoga, becoming instructors and teachers and some even became sannyasins.
